Laois IFA are holding a dairy meeting in the Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix next Tuesday Night 5th June 5 at 8.30pm.
Guest Speaker on the night is Catherine Lascurrettes Executive Secretary IFA Dairy Committee. Catherine is well known in the county for her expertise on Markets and Milk Outlook.
The focus at this meeting will be the downward pressure on milk price at the moment and how the industry can react to maintain a decent price for Dairy Farmers. With costs of production at an all time high and feed, fuel and fertilizer increasing rapidly combined with very difficult weather conditions during the Spring. The Dairy Sector cannot take any further price cuts.
The Dairy Industry is sending out a very wrong signal at the moment if it hopes to achieve a 50% increase in milk production by 2020. A lot of investment is taking place on farms at the moment and a lot of new comers are entering the industry.
Tom Phelan Chairman of Laois IFA Dairy Committee welcomes all Dairy Farmers to this meeting next Tuesday Night in Abbeyleix.
