No county councillors will be on the newly formed Local Enterprise Office Board.
The County Enterprise Board is being dissolved with local enterprise offices replacing it.
Under the new structure there will be only one committee and Laois County Council won’t have any representatives on the new board.
Cllr James Daly welcomed the update but was not happy with the new structure.
“It is nearly a year since this was announced, it is some step forward. The one stop shop is welcome but I am disappointed with the make-up of the new committee”.
The enterprise offices will remain at the same location in Portlaoise for the foreseeable future. Speaking at this month’s council meeting, Director of Services Anna Marie Delaney said that the Local Governement Act had been passed with an April commencement date for the disillusion of the County Enterprise Boards.
“We will establish an evaluation and approvals committee and the office will continue to be located in the same place. The local launch of the National Enterprise Office will take place in April. There will be 31 offices nationwide”.
