The public is invited to visit a number of open days as part of the first public consultation for the €500 million Grid Link power line linking Leinster and Munster.

The open days near Laois will take place on Thursday. May 10 from 1pm to 8pm in Killashee House Hotel in Naas, and on Tuesday. May 15 from 1pm to 8pm in the kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. They are also taking place in Cork, Waterford, Tipperary, Wicklow and Wexford.

On these days, the EirGrid project team will be available to discuss the project, record feedback and answer any queries that people may have. A Grid Link information centre is also open in Carlow every Thursday at Enterprise House on O’Brien Road in the town from 12pm to 6pm.

“This is essentially an information gathering exercise for EirGrid. During this first stage of public consultation we would urge people to come in and talk to us about the study area.

“Local knowledge is invaluable and all information received will inform preparations and plans for proposed route corridors and the line route,” said project manager John Lowry.
