Chocolate success for Penhouse

AWARD winning Laois graphic design company Penhouse can merge their love of design with their love of chocolate as they have won a prestigious rebranding design contract for one of the country’s leading companies - Lily O’Briens Chocolates.

Penhouse were recently selected as the winners from design companies across Ireland and the United Kingdom, with company founder Mary Ann O’ Brien stating that the team “more than proved themselves against stiff competition”.

Penhouse’s creative director Gillian Reidy told the Leinster Express that the team are already working redeveloping the brand, which won’t be unveiled until 2013. “This was a really good contract to win, as we were up against some real heavy hitters, both in the UK and from Ireland. It is a really good achievement for us as we are a small company, and we are not too far from them up in Kildare”.

There were two stages to the process to get the prestigious contract, the frst of which was to present a vision for the company. Then the Penhouse designers had to complete some designs and these were very well received during focus groups, ensuring the contract. “This is very much a hands on job, Mary Ann has said that we are an integral part of the team at Lily O’Briens. It is early days but so far so good”, added Gillian.

Already a number of the Penhouse team have been up to Lily O’ Brien’s factory to see how the chocolates are made, and while there they tasted some of the brand new recipe chocolates, met the Lily’s team, and got a tour of the marketing room, the wrapping and packing area and the chocolate kitchen where the magic happens, as well as enjoying making their own chocolates.
