FIFTY jobs will be created in a new automotive coating plant in Portarlington.
The positions will be created by the US based Magni group, which is establishing a new manufacturing plant and research and development laboratory near Port. The Michigan-based company already has a paint business in Mallow. The facility will include a 40,000 sq ft factory that can be expanded to 80,000 sq ft over five years.
The new jobs were delivered through ConnectIreland, the company responsible for delivering the Government’s Succeed in Ireland initiative, as part of the Action Plan for Jobs. Companies are referred to ConnectIreland by a registered connector, who facilitates contact with ConnectIreland’s foreign direct investment team. The facilitator in this case was well known local man Kieran Leavy.
