Plant machinery auctioneering company plans huge outlet in Laois
Planning lodged for largescale farm machinery auction business in Laois.
A vast plant machinery auction showroom and arena is being considered for construction in Laois.
A new planning application has been lodged with Laois County Council to develop the business in the council’s own National Enterprise Park in Knockmay, Portlaoise.
Applicant Tamar Selby Ltd, based in Northern Ireland, trades in plant machinery and is a subsidiary group of worldwide market leader Euro Auctions Group.
It is planning to develop a showroom and auction arena and an office building with a proposed gross floor area of 2178 sqm (23,500 sqft).
The business also seeks permission for a workshop building containing a spray booth, loading docks, office accommodation and staff welfare facilities with a proposed gross floor area of 3389 sqm (36,500 sqft).
The development will also include vehicular entrances, machinery storage yards, loading bays, a vehicle wash bay, car parking areas, street lighting, bicycle shelter facilities, signage, site services, landscaping works, including perimeter fencing, walls and piers.
It will have a stormwater management system incorporating attenuation tanks, nature based SUDs solutions, flow-control chamber, petrol interceptor, and outfall connection and all ancillary and associated site development works.
The site area is 7.662Ha (19 acres).
The auctioneer business if approved and built, would join neighbours in the park such as Mountmellick’s Midland Steel, The Kirby Group and Alpha Drives. Also in the park is the soon to be vacated Leprino cheese factory which is on the market for €12 million.
The planning application was lodged with Laois County Council on June 12 and is at preliminary stage. A decision is due on August 6.
