Santa and Mrs Claus in Stradbally

The Irish Steam Preservation Society is thrilled to invite people to join us for a festive adventure at the Stradbally Woodland Railway for what they promise will be a wonderful Santa Train Experience.

The Society promises an exciting journey through the magical setting of Stradbally Woodlands aboard the steam train Róisín.

Anyone coming aboard will get a chance to meet Santa, Mrs Claus, and their band of merry elves as they spread holiday cheer to families young and old.

The Society says each train ride includes a captivating story read by Mrs Claus while the train is in motion. After the journey, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus for a memorable photo opportunity. Every child receives a free present, making this a magical experience for the whole family.

A festive atmosphere with the Steamin’ Brews Coffee Hut, offering delightful hot chocolate and more is on the menu as you experience the joy of other engines on display alongside the enchanting sights of Stradbally Woodlands.

The organisers say the Stradbally Woodland Railway also holds a special place in Irish history. Established in 1969, it is Ireland's first volunteer-run heritage railway. Nestled in the enchanting Stradbally Hall estate, it all began with a Guinness Brewery steam locomotive. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

In 1969, the railway transformed to 3 ft gauge, welcoming our pride and joy, the 1949-built Andrew Barclay 0-4-0WT No 2/LM44 - Róisín.

Róisín has called Stradbally her home for over 50 years, cherished by dedicated Irish Steam Preservation Society volunteers since her arrival.

The Irish Steam Preservation Society looks forward to welcoming all, to celebrate the magic of the season at the Stradbally Woodland Railway. Don't miss this opportunity to create lasting memories and experience the joy of the holidays on the Santa Train.

The event takes place at the Stradbally Woodland Railway in Laois on December 3 - 4 and 9 -10 from 12 am to 7:30 pm each day.
