Old Moore’s Almanac is 261 years old in 2025 and it's one of the oldest almanacs in the world and still has the same green cover it has had for decades.
It is the first and original, and Irish. Some editions over 250 years old still sit in the Long Room Library in Trinity, next to the Bibles! There is more information about its fascinating Irish history here.
Old Moore’s Almanac has been a stocking filler since its inception. It is most famous for its predictions of future events – both Irish and global. These predictions have been getting great domestic and international news coverage for their accuracy. For example, before it happened, Old Moore said that Kate Middleton already had a baby on board (before it was announced) and that the baby’s name would be Charlotte.
In previous years, Old Moore predicted that Kanye would have mental health problems and that Trump would run for president again. He also predicted the rise of Bitcoin over 10 years ago. And of course, he predicted the pandemic, a year before it happened.
In 2023, he predicted that there would be a “submarine drama” (there was), “aliens for real” (according to the US government) and that the dark side of the moon would be in the news (India landed a craft on it), and that 2023 would be the year of AI, and Meghan and Harry would have marriage and money problems, among other predictions.
2024 predictions
In 2024, the predictions said that Biden would step down before the election, Trump would suffer assassination attempts, and that the USA would swing conservative with its voting preferences. It also predicted that many European countries would swing conservative.
The Almanac also said that there would be a space drama, and of course, some poor astronauts are stuck in space. Would someone please get them down!

The magazine holds on to its position of having the highest circulation of any of the indigenous magazines in the country with sales hovering around 60,000 copies. It has enjoyed a revival in recent years due to its accurate predictions and its love of futurism.
