Portlaoise Pantomime Group will present their 35th Annual Production “Sleeping Beauty” at the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise from Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th of January 2019 (inclusive).
As in all of their productions over the past thirty fours with their proud reputation for a hugely entertaining presentations of song, dance, comedy and laughter for all ages this their 35th should be no exception.
This years tale is “Sleeping Beauty” with its usual series of little plots and twists here and there , even a trip through time itself, meeting some amazing characters on the way bringing all the usual panto surprises and all will live happily ever after in the end.
With Director Scriptwriter Peter Kennedy on his first visit to Portlaoise Panto , Musical Director Niall Mulpeter who is with the group for many years and Choreographer Julieanne McNamara in her second season with the group and with a cast of over 50 (including transition year students from local secondary schools and an amazing junior chorus of fourteen fourth class pupils representing the primary schools in the parish), rehearsals are now in full swing for what promises to be a spectacular start to 2019 for all panto lovers.
With a superb chorus, senior and junior dancers all playing their parts of villagers, towns people and many more all contributing in no small way to the continuity of the antics and actions of all the main characters.
The cast of characters will feature as follows : King Jonathan (Noel Tuohy), Queen Linda (Thomasina Connell) Princess Beauty (Aisling Kelly) Prince Nicky (Andrew O’Connor) Nanny Annie Cranny – Dame ( Damien Halpin Lee) Sir Philip ( PJ Mulhall) Uncle Louie (Christy Bannon) The Wicked Queen Dana of Derry (Vikki Byrne), Penny Dreadful (Ciara Dollard) Dopey Dave (Donal Brennan) Jill (Veronica Lanham) Egbert (Stephen Keegan).
As ever Portlaoise Pantomime Group are looking forward to seeing everyone in the New Year and hope the audiences will enjoy watching as much as they enjoy bringing it to life.
“Sleeping Beauty” runs from Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th of January next, with matinees on Saturday 19th , Sunday 20th, and Saturday 26th at 2.30pm (sharp) and nightly at 8pm in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

Usual concessions will also apply for the same period with all tickets full price from Tuesday 22nd.
