A BMW driver who overtook on a continuous white line claimed the car in front was too slow.
Jeremiah Scully, 51, of Court Square, Stradbally was accused of crossing a continuous white line on the R639 in Durrow Townspark on May 17, 2022.
A sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told the defendant, when stopped driving a black BMW, claimed he overtook because the car in front was too slow. However, gardai dispute this. The court heard the defendant has two previous convictions.
Judge Andrew Cody fined the man €400.
