Laois Offaly Gardai issue money mule warning

'Money mule' Garda investigation begun in Laois

Laois Offaly Gardai are warning guardians and young people of the dangers of money muling.

“Our Crime Prevention Officer is urging parents and young people to take heed of Money and Parcel Muling,” Gardai said.

“We also wish to warn the public not to be a money mule or a package mule. Money mules allow fraudsters to use their bank accounts to receive monies obtained via fraud; package mules work for fraudsters by accepting packages on their behalf and sending or delivering them to designated persons or address. Being a ‘Mule’ is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years imprisonment,” Gardai explained.
