Driving ban for not having child restrained 

Man remanded on €35,000 Laois drugs charge

A woman was disqualified from driving for having a child unrestrained in her car.

Chantell O'Reilly, 29, of 23 Birchgrove, Knockmay, Portlaoise was fined for failing to restrain a four year old child in her car at Mountrath Road in Portlaoise on June 18, 2021. 

A sitting of Portlaoise District Court heard the  fine went unpaid. 

The court was told there was a four year old with the seat belt “going down the side of the child’s face” in the front passenger seat. 

Judge Andrew Cody was told the woman had four previous convictions including two for not having a child restrained. He fined the woman, who wasn’t in court,  €200 and disqualified her from driving for six months.
