Overcrowding at Portlaoise Hospital

The Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise

A man was convicted of being drunk at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. 

Krzksztof Kostka, 41, of No Fixed Abode, Roscrea, Tipperary was accused of being intoxicated at the hospital on August 8, 2022. 

A sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told the defendant was being abusive towards staff in the waiting room. When gardai arrived he went out to the car park where he was stumbling and he was arrested for being a danger to himself.  The defendant had 13 previous convictions, ten of which related to public order.  

Judge Andrew Cody fined the man €750 and gave him three months to pay.
