Gardaí say they are investigating an assault on a man who was discovered with serious injuries in Newridge and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
In a statement, Garda HQ says the incident occured on the morning of Wednesday, March 8.
"The man, aged in his 40s, was discovered at approximately 10:30am on Wednesday 8th March 2023 outside a residence in the Piercetown area of Newbridge.
"He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he is currently in a critical condition.
"The scene at Piercetown is currently preserved for technical examination.
"A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of this investigation and he is currently being detained at Newbridge Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, " said the garda statement.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440180, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
