A man and woman were sent forward to the Circuit Court on child cruelty charges.

The man and woman, who are both in their mid 30s, are each charged with three counts of cruelty to children in Laois on a date in November last year.

Garda Aisling O’Boyle gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on each of the accused.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP directed that they be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on June 13.

Judge Andrew Cody sent the two forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court. He imposed reporting restrictions preventing the identification of the accused.
