Man accused of burglary in Portlaoise

A man is to be sent forward to Portlaoise Circuit Court on burglary charges. 

James Heffernan, 27, with an address at 1 Bridge Street, Portlaoise was served with a book of evidence at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court. 

He is accused of burglary at Nolan’s of Eyne, Portlaoise between September 27 and 28 last year and burglary and unlawfully taking a vehicle at Westlands, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise on July 29 last year. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant should be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on June 13. 

Judge Andrew Cody gave the defendant the alibi warning and sent him forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on June 13. He granted legal aid for one solicitor and two counsel.
