Man accused of having cocaine in Portlaoise

A man appeared in court charged with public order offences and having cocaine in Portlaoise. 

John Kerry, 66, with an address at 48 O’Moore Place, Portlaoise was accused of failing to comply with the directions of gardai  and threatening and abusive behaviour at O’Moore Place on April 17. He is further charged with possessing cocaine for sale or supply at his address on the same date. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said he wished to seek directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions as the alleged value of the cocaine was €1,400. 

Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on October 19.
