Accused of assault at Portlaoise HSE facility

HSE CADS Portlaoise

A man appeared in court accused of assault at a HSE facility in Portlaoise. 

Kenneth Kelly,35, of 22 O’Moore Place, Portlaoise is accused of assault causing harm at HSE CADS (Community Alcohol and Drugs Service) Dublin Road, Portlaoise on March 15, 2023. 

He is also accused of engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Campus Filling Station on the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise on May 26, 2022. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the alleged assault was on the upper end of the scale and wasn’t straight forward in terms of investigation. He said gardai were seeking extra time.

Solicitor Josepine Fitzpatrick said her client was in receipt of social welfare and on disability. Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 28.
