A suspected drug driver was arrested after driving through a red light in front of gardai in Laois.

Gardai said they recently observed the motorist driving through the red light in Mountrath.

“Whilst on patrol recently, Mountrath Gardaí observed this vehicle driving through a red light.

Gardaí then tested the driver using a roadside drug test which tested positive for the presence of cocaine, amphetamines and benzodiazepines,” Gardai said.

“The driver was arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station where a blood sample was taken which will be sent to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety for analysis,” they added.
