A MAN who shoved a stolen breakfast roll down his trousers had a prosecution for theft struck out at Tullamore District Court.

Judge Michelle Finan said Ricky O'Shea (30), Clonrooske View, Portlaoise, could not do any more than what he had already done to make amends.

The court heard the breakfast roll, which Mr O'Shea admitted stealing from Maxol Spar Express, Church Road, Tullamore on August 20, 2021, was worth €5 and he was offering €10 in compensation to the court.

The man was also in the Coolmine residential addiction treatment centre for six months.

Judge Finan, who granted Mr O'Shea legal aid, said his contribution and approach to the court was valued.
