Laois Gardai arrested two suspected drunk drivers as the Bank Holiday weekend got underway.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit while on duty last night performing checkpoints in the county as part of our August Bank Holiday road safety campaign arrested two drivers for drunk driving. Two vehicles were also seized under the Road Traffic Act,” Gardai said.
Earlier in the day Laois Roads Policing Unit detected two disqualified drivers on the roads in Laois. They were also arrested and both cars were seized.

Gardai have issued details of some of the detections that have taken place so far over the weekend countrywide.
They said 28 motorists had been arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant and 348 vehicles were detected speeding. In one instance a motorist was caught driving at 203kph in a 120kph zone.
