Laois Gardai issue firework warning after seizing rockets

Gardai have issued a warning to people not to buy fireworks after rockets were seized in Laois. 

“Abbeyleix Gardai recently seized a small quantity of fireworks in the area,” Gardai said. 

“We would like to remind you that not only are fireworks illegal but also highly dangerous.

There were 34 rockets seized by Abbeyleix Gardai, which some people would consider to be a small number but all it takes is one firework to cause serious life altering injuries such as burns, scarring and loss of eyesight or fingers,” gardai warned. 

“We would ask that in the run up to Halloween, that adults do not purchase or give fireworks to children,” Gardai added. 

The warning was issued by Laois Offaly Gardai on social media.
