A teenager appeared in court accused of attempted robbery and assault in Laois.
The teen, 15, who cannot be named due to his age, is alleged to have committed the offences on September 18, 2023.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai are waiting for directions from the DPP In relation to the case.
He said it would be alleged that the injured party, who was the same age, was approached from behind and struck on the head a number of times before his pockets were searched.
“This young man was identified through CCTV,” said Sgt Kirby.
Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the matter to Portlaoise District Court on February 26, 2024.
