A Laois Offaly TD has vowed to continue her work ‘undeterred’ after her constituency office was attacked on Sunday night.

Independent TD Carol Nolan thanked her constituents for their messages and actions in the wake of the vandalism.

The front window of the office on Harbour Street in Tullamore was smashed during the incident but nothing was taken from the office.

“Thanks so much to everyone who sent messages after yesterday’s incident at my Tullamore Office where the glass in the front door was smashed. Thanks also to the constituent who reported the incident early yesterday morn and to the Gardaí who came out to investigate,” said Deputy Nolan.

“I will continue to represent the people of Offaly and Laois undeterred! Yesterday we kept our office open and worked away as usual after the glass was swept up and the office was made safe to the public. Thanks so much to local business Tullamore PVC and their staff who were out quickly to help resolve the problem .. onwards and upwards!,” Deputy Nolan said in a post online.

Laois Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan hit out at those responsible for damaging the constituency office.

“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on the office of my Dail colleague Carol Nolan TD. This was a wanton act of criminal vandalism and an attack on democracy. I urge anybody with info to contact Tullamore Gardai and I want those responsible to face the full rigours of the law,” the former Justice Minister said in a tweet.
