Court hears man found drunk in Laois is living in a shed

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court
A man who is “in a dark place” and living in a shed admitted being intoxicated in Portlaoise.
David Bradshaw (36) of 1 Rockypool Gardens, Blessington, Co Wicklow was arrested on the Block Road in Portlaoise on May 16, 2023.
Garda Mark Fallon said the defendant was arrested for his own safety when he was discovered in a highly intoxicated state. He said the defendant, who has no previous convictions, was in court because he failed to pay a fine issued after the incident.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said “the defendant seems to have alcohol issues” and “the offence speaks for itself.”
“He instructs me that he is currently living in a shed, so he is in a dark space,” said Mr Fitzgerald.
Judge Nicola Andrews applied the probation act and granted legal aid in the case.
