Laois man remanded to prison following theft and assault charges

Gardaí make arrest over series of alleged offences in Mountmellick
Gardaí have made an arrest in connection with a series of alleged offences in Mountmellick including the theft of power tools, assault and criminal damage.
Mountmellick Gardaí said the man, aged approximately 20, was identified through CCTV and following a search of a property the arrest was made.
The alleged theft of power tools from a vehicle took place on Sunday, July 28.
“Mountmellick Gardaí, following thorough investigations into a series of offences in the town—including theft of power tools, an assault causing harm, and multiple incidents of criminal damage—conducted a search of a property. This led to the arrest of a male suspect,” Gardaí said.
He was subsequently charged on one count of theft, one count of assault causing harm, one count of assault and four counts of criminal damage.
The man appeared in court on Friday August 2, and was remanded to Cloverhill prison.
