Appeal after teenage boy assaulted during robbery in Laois

Detectives at Portlaoise Garda Station are investigating the incident

Gardai are investigating an armed robbery in Kilmeague.

Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to the assault and robbery of a teenager boy in Portlaoise. 

Laois gardaí have issued an appeal following the incident in Portlaoise on Tuesday evening. 

Gardaí from the detective branch Portlaoise are investigating the matter which occurred at the entrance to the Grange estate on the Borris Road, Portlaoise.

It’s understood a bag and cash was taken when the teenager was approached by a number of youths and assaulted in the town.  

“Gardai are particularly interested in any sightings of three youths in their early to mid teens  around the Borris area between the times of 8.20 - 8.50pm, believed to be in possession of sticks or similar type offensive weapons,” Gardaí said in a statement online. 

They are asking for anyone with information or anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has dashcam footage to please contact the detective branch at Portlaoise on 057 867 4134.
