Man arrested in connection with armed robbery of shop in Laois

A Garda Water Unit search of a nearby lake in Portlaoise is believed to be connected to the investigation

Gardaí in Waterford investigating armed robbery from local garage station

A man has been arrested by gardaí investigating the armed robbery of a shop in Portlaoise earlier this year.

The man, who is aged in his mid 30s, is being questioned about the robbery of a shop in Esker Hills, Portlaoise on March 29 last. 

A number of vapes and other items were stolen during the robbery when a man entered the shop and threatened staff with what’s believed to have been a gun. 

The man, who was arrested on Wednesday evening, is being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station

Meanwhile,  the Garda Water Unit is carrying out a search of the lake in Esker Hills. It’s believed the search is connected to the arrest and that gardaí are looking for the weapon which was used in the robbery.
