Taxi driver assaulted in Laois

The driver was treated for injuries at the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise

A taxi driver had to be treated in hospital following an assault in Laois on Monday night. 

The driver, who was in his early 60s, suffered facial injuries in an assault on the Conoboro Road in Rathdowney at around 9pm. 

Gardai say the man was brought to the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise for treatment before being released. 

The assault is being investigated by gardaí in Abbeyleix who are following a definite line of enquiry. 

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the assault at the Conoboro Road in Rathdowney at around 9pm.
