A man appeared in court accused of following another man in his car, smashing the man’s wing mirrors and assaulting him.

Andrejs Galino (33) of 37 Cushlawn Way, Tallaght, Dublin 24 is accused of causing €400 criminal damage to a VW Polo, €200  damage to a phone and assault at Ballypickas Cross, Abbeyleix on May 27, 2023.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby told the defendant it would be alleged that the injured party was driving home when he noticed the accused following him in a grey VW.  Sgt Kirby said the victim knew the accused from work.

Sgt Kirby said it was alleged that when he stopped, the “accused got out with a hammer” and damaged two wing mirrors. A scuffle ensued and the injured party suffered a dislocated shoulder, he said.

Judge Nicola Andrews refused jurisdiction and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on October 14 for service of a book of evidence.
