A woman admitted stealing clothes from Dunnes Stores in Portlaoise.
Theresa Conroy (38) of 7 Green Mill Lane, Portlaoise was accused of stealing clothing valued at €139 from Dunnes Stores, Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise on July 9, 2024 and stealing goods valued at €319 from the Nook and Cranny, Portlaoise on the same date. She is further accused of possessing cannabis at Portlaoise Garda Station on July 7, 2024.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client, who wasn’t present, was in custody. She said she would be entering guilty pleas on the theft charges if they were staying in the district court but was pleading not guilty to the drug possession.
Ms Fitzpatrick asked Judge Nicola Andrews if she was accepting jurisdiction to hear the theft cases in the district court.
“I will accept jurisdiction but I have to say Ms Fitzpatrick, that’s reluctantly,” replied Judge Andrews.
She noted the guilty pleas and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on July 8, 2025, allowing time for certificate of analysis in relation to the cannabis.
