Drugs and a car have been seized from a driver who was spotted driving erratically on the motorway in Laois.

Gardaí from Laois Roads Policing Unit who stopped the car say the driver had only been disqualified from driving three days earlier.

“Laois Roads Policing Unit on patrol yesterday stopped a vehicle driving erratically on the M7. The vehicle had no insurance and there was a strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle. The driver failed a roadside drug test for cocaine and cannabis. This driver was also found to be disqualified from driving just three days previously,” gardaí said in an online post.

“The driver was also found in possession of cocaine, cannabis and MDMA. The driver was arrested, a blood specimen was taken at the station and was charged,” gardaí stated.

Gardaí said the Ford Mondeo car was also seized.
