Alleged public order offence at Laois Social Welfare office

A man appeared in court accused of a public order offence at the Social Welfare offices in Laois. 

Sean McHale (26) of 125 Rossvale, Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise is accused of engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at the Social Welfare Office in Portlaoise on October 23 last. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick requested any CCTV footage that may be available. “It would appear that the area would be covered by CCTV,” she said. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said he would ask the prosecuting Detective Garda if there was CCTV available. 

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the matter to Portlaoise District Court on January 7 for hearing. He ordered that any relevant CCTV be provided to Ms Fitzpatrick.
