Portlaoise District Court

A bench warrant was issued for a woman who was found guilty of illegal dumping in Laois.

Piparca Rostas with an address at 42 Borris Little, Portlaoise failed to appear in court where she was accused of illegal dumping at Oughaval Woods, Stradbally on April 18, 2024.

Laois County Council’s David Eustace said he and an official from Coillte discovered an insurance disc when they went through the rubbish that had been dumped in the woodland.

“On this occasion Coillte were very good. They paid for the clean up themselves,” Mr Eustace told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court.

Judge Andrew Cody noted the insurer was Axa and that the car covered was a Golf GTI.

Mr Eustace said he called to the defendant who confirmed the insurance disc was hers.

Judge Cody convicted the woman in her absence and issued a bench warrant for sentencing.
