E-scooter rider found with cocaine in Laois

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court

A man who was followed on a scooter was found to be in possession of cocaine valued at €500. 

Raymond Considine (39) of Woodlands Park, Canal Road, Portarlington was stopped at Canal Road in Portarlington on June 22, 2023. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant was  observed “emerging on an e-scooter from a halting site in Portarlington” at 8.40pm on the date in question. He was followed and stopped by gardaí who searched him and found cocaine valued at €500 in his possession. 

He said the man had three previous convictions but that they were of “some vintage”. 

Judge Susan Fay ordered a probation report. She remanded the defendant on bail to appear again before Portlaoise District Court on June 9.
