Man accused of Portlaoise burglary

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court

Court Services in Laois asked to back plan to move parking from Courthouse at Portlaoise Main Street

A book of evidence has been served on a man who is accused of burglary at a house in Portlaoise. 

Darren McInerney (38) of 1 New Road, Portlaoise is accused of burglary at a house in O’Moore Place, Portlaoise on September 5, 2024.

Garda Lisa Murray said she served a book of evidence on the accused during a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant faced one count of burglary and there was consent to send him forward to the current sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court. 

Judge John Brennan issued the man with the standard alibi warning. He remanded the defendant in custody and sent him forward to the current sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court. 

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick requested legal aid for herself and one counsel which was granted by Judge Brennan.
