Man accused of having drugs for sale or supply in Laois

A man appeared in court accused of having cannabis for sale or supply in Laois. 

Michael Tuohy (24) of 54 Rushall, Mountrath, is accused of having cannabis for sale or supply at Dysart Beg, Mountrath on February 4, 2025. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said it would be alleged the drugs were valued at €500. 

Judge John Brennan ordered disclosure to solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick. She requested legal aid. 

“Why is he not working?” asked Judge Brennan. 

Ms Fitzpatrick said the defendant was working with Turas Nua. 

Judge Brennan granted legal aid and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on May 19.
