Two separate road traffic incidents in Laois, that have taken place in recent days, have ended in court proceedings for the drivers.

They involved a number of alleged offences, including speeding, no insurance and intoxicated driving.

The first incident took place on Tuesday, February 25, when the Laois Roads Policing Unit were on patrol. That afternoon, in Kilminchy, Portlaoise, the authorities stopped a vehicle, pictured above, after receiving an APPR alert for no insurance. The vehicle was then seized.

The following day, when a 24 hour speed operation was in place, the Laois Roads Policing Unit once again stopped another vehicle, this time a white Volkswagon. Just 20 minutes into their patrol, the driver was caught travelling at 78kph in a 50kph zone. The driver also failed the roadside breath test and was then arrested for intoxicated driving.

Taking to social media, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that court proceedings have commenced for both these incidents.
