Allegedly damaged Sky Glass TV worth €1,200 at address in Laois

The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court

Judge John Brennan accepted jurisdiction after hearing a man was accused of causing €2,000 in criminal damage. 

Keith Mitchell (34), with an address at Droughill Lawns, Portarlington is accused of causing damage to a Sky Glass TV and a Samsung S24 phone at his address on January 1, 2025. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the alleged value of the TV is  €1,200 and the phone is €800 giving a total of €2,000. 

“I will accept jurisdiction,” Judge John Brennan said on hearing the value of the items. 

Garda Paul Dooley said he had no objection to bail for the defendant who was in court on foot of a warrant.

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick requested legal aid and said her client worked part time as a plasterer. 

Judge Brennan granted legal aid, ordered disclosure and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on April 7.
