A man appeared in court for driving a car to get to court while uninsured.

Niall Green (31) of 27 Ossory Court, Borris-in-Ossory, was stopped at Townspark, Borris-in-Ossory on January 8, 2024.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant was stopped and asked to produce documents but failed to do so. He said the man had 14 previous convictions including two for no insurance.

Anne Doyle BL said her client accepts that he was driving on the day. She said he had to get a bus from Borris-in-Ossory to attend court and he drove to the bus.

Judge Andrew Cody asked if the man was working.

Ms Doyle said her client was on disability and wasn’t working.

Judge Cody fined the man €800 and disqualified him from driving for four years.
