A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of a man who is accused of burgling a shop in Laois. 

William Donoghue (37) of Pleasant Place, Harpurs Lane, Portlaoise is accused of burglary at Bosco’s Newsagents, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise on August 9, 2025. He is also accused of possession of Benzodiazepine tablets for personal use at Bull Lane, Portlaoise on August 19, 2025. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby requested a bench warrant when the defendant failed to appear before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

The warrant was issued by Judge Patricia Cronin.
