Men before Laois court accused of attempted murder

Two men have been remanded in custody after appearing at Portlaoise Court arising from charges that stem from violent incident at a halting site in Tullamore. 

John Pio Ward(41) of Bay 6, Kilcruttin Halting Site, Tullamore and Patrick Ward(37) of 7 Kilcruttin, Tullamore, Co Offaly are each charged with violent disorder, possessing a firearm and attempted murder at Kilcruttin Halting Site, Tullamore on March 21, 2025. 

They appeared before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court by videolink where Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the State was applying to have the men produced before Tullamore District Court on September 3 for service of the book of evidence. 

Judge Catherine Hayden remanded both men in custody and ordered that they be produced at a sitting of Tullamore District Court on September 3, 2025 for service of the book of evidence.
