Man accused of burglary in Portlaoise

A book of evidence was served on a man who is accused of burglary in Portlaoise. 

John Joe O’Leary (25) of 68 De Vesci Court, Fairgreen, Portlaoise, is accused of burglary at Market Mews, Maryborough Village, Portlaoise, on March 22 last. 

Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the accused at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court. 

Judge Susan Fay noted the DPP directions and issued an alibi warning before sending the case forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court sitting on October 28. She granted legal aid for one solicitor and one counsel and remanded the defendant on bail.
