'Highly intoxicated' learner driver detected at 154kph on Laois motorway

Gardaí say a ‘highly intoxicated’ learner driver was caught doing 154kph on the motorway in Laois at the weekend. 

Laois Gardaí said “RPU(Roads Policing Unit) Sensors detected a Volkswagen Golf attempting warp speed on the M7 at yesterday 154 kph.” 

Gardaí who stopped the motorists said the "unaccompanied learner driver” was “highly intoxicated” and and the car had no motor tax or valid NCT. 

They also found half of a key in the ignition which had been turned with a pair of pliers. 

Gardaí said the driver was arrested and the car was seized. They reminded people to never ever drink and drive.
