Man accused of obstruction during search in Laois

A man who appeared in court accused of obstructing officers involved in a search at his address cannot be named.

The man (46), who has a Laois address, is accused of obstructing officers who were conducting a search of his address on a warrant issued under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act on February 22, 2025.  

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardaí were looking to adjourn the matter for as long as possible. 

Solicitor Josephene Fitzpatrick said her client was first before the court on March 10. She asked whether a file had yet been sent to the DPP. She said her client would consent to a remand date  in early February. 

Judge Susan Fay adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on February 16 and said reporting restrictions were to  continue in the case.
