Teen public order case investigated by police ombudsman

Portlaoise District Court

The case of a Laois teenager who is accused of a public order offence is being investigated by the office of the police ombudsman, Fiosrú.

The youth, aged 16, appeared in court accused of engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour at a location in Laois on September 2 last year.

Solicitor Philip Meagher told a sitting of Portlaoise District Court “that is the subject of an ongoing investigation through Fiosrú.”

Mr Meagher said a new officer had been assigned to the case and he suggested the matter be listed in the new year.

Judge Susan Fay adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on February 16, 2026.
