Electric Picnic
An apprentice electrician who was arrested at the Electric Picnic may face a further charge of assaulting a garda, a court was told.
Euan McGivern, (21), of 99 Oughterany Village, Branganstown, Kilcock, Co Kildare, is accused of being intoxicated and engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Cosby Hall, Stradbally on August 30, 2025.
Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said a hearing date would be required in the case.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said: “There is a file being prepared in relation to it. There may be further charges.”
Ms Fitzpatrick asked what further charges were under consideration.
Sgt Kirby said there was an allegation that during the course of the arrest there had been an assault on a member of An Garda Siochana.
“This accused also would say he was the victim of an assault on that day,” said Ms Fitzpatrick.
Judge Susan Fay adjourned the matter to Portlaoise District Court on December 8.
Ms Fitzpatrick requested legal aid and said her client was earning €450 per week. “He is trying to run a car to get him to and from his electrical apprenticeship,” she said.
Judge Fay agreed to grant legal aid in the case.
