A man appeared in court accused of stealing four kegs of beer and 36 bottles of alcohol from a pubs in Laois.
Conor McMahon (26) of Kilpatrick, Kildangan, Kildare is accused of stealing 12 bottles of smirnoff vodka valued at €364.99, 24 bottles of Bulmers valued at €206.14 from the Village Inn, Stradbally on October 9 last and four kegs of beer valued at €710 from the Rock Inn, Dublin Road, Portlaoise on November 2.
He was also accused of having no insurance or driving licence in Stradbally on October 9.
He appeared before Portlaoise District Court via video link.
The defendant told Judge Andrew Cody that he was “feeling a lot better in myself”.
Judge Cody informed him that there was no representative from Solicitor Aonghus McCarthy’s office in court.
“Your solicitors are being paid legal aid to be here but there is no sign of them,” said Judge Cody.
The man said he would like to spend Christmas with his kids.
Judge Cody remanded the case back to Portlaoise District Court on November 20.
