Burglary accused ordered to stay out of Laois

A man has been ordered to stay out of Laois except for court appearances.

Eduard Ionut (26) of 8 Orlagh Grange, Knocklyn, Dublin is accused of burglary at Room 4, Ballycarnan Lodge, Portlaoise on November 2 last.

Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said his client was seeking bail and Judge Andrew Cody had indicated he would revisit the matter if the man could provide an address. “There is consent to bail subject to terms and conditions,” he said.

He said the man’s mother had an address at Castlegate Green, Adamstown, Lucan and she was prepared to provide an independent surety or €2,000. He said the man had agreed to sign on at Lucan Garda Station on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to stay out of Laois and not to contact directly or indirectly any witness or injured party in the case.

On hearing evidence from the man’s mother at the sitting of Portlaoise District Court, Judge Susan Fay granted bail and remanded the man in custody with consent to bail to appear again before Portlaoise District Court on December 15.
