Portlaoise District Court
A man who caused nearly €2,500 of damage to a hotel car park now has a job with the hotel, a court was told.
Ben Cranny Dunne (19) of 23 Hawthorn Way, Esker Hills, Portlaoise was accused of causing €2,410.56 in criminal damage to a security barrier at the Midlands Park Hotel Car Park in Portlaoise on October 18 last year.
Solicitor Brian Duffy said his client was “very distressed” about the matter.
“He has got a job with the injured party in this matter,” said Mr Duffy.
He explained that an arrangement had been made with the hotel to take compensation from his wages.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said “the State would like to get some confirmation from the injured party.”
Judge Susan Fay adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on January 6, 2026.
